How does it work?
PicoSure technology (Laser Skin Resurfacing) combines a dual approach when treating: a modest photothermal process and a strong photomechanical impact based on ultra-short pulse duration. This combination of photothermolysis and intense photomechanical impact, known as PressureWave™, breaks up the intended target, e.g., ink or pigment, into particles that are easily eliminated from the body.
This mechanism of action makes Picosure safe for all skin types 1 – 6 and the best device to treat skin concerns like hyperpigmentation, acne scars, uneven skin tone, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles, overall skin resurfacing and rejuvenation and tattoo removal.
To achieve best results, we recommend 3-4 treatment 2-4 weeks apart.
What to expect :
Keep hydrated by drinking water (at least eight cups daily) or hydrating fluids to improve treatment outcomes, Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours in advance of treatment, For seven days prior to treatment, at the physician’s discretion, avoid therapies that may cause erythema (redness) or irritation, such as retinols or products containing isotretinoin or any exfoliating acids, Shave visible hair from the treatment area (Male beards should be shaved on the day of treatment.)
On day of treatment, your skin will be cleansed and prepped to provide a clean treatment area. A topical anesthetic will be applied to minimized any discomfort. The treatment is very well tolerated which allows for minimal downtime. Once the anesthetic has had time to work, the treatment will be started. The treatment time is usually 30minutes or less.
Recovery:
The advantage of Picosure (Laser Skin Resurfacing) over many other lasers is the minimal downtime post procedure while delivering dramatic results. Erythema/Redness resolved within 24 hours for most patients. Most patients return to daily activities same or next day.
Post treatment we recommend using mild soap and warm water to keep skin clean, avoid using exfoliants immediately after and wear sunscreen SPF 30 or greater in between treatments.
